Description:Beautiful stylish apartment just behind the cathedral at Plaza Matriz in the old historical city 'la Ciudad Vieja' of Montevideo. The apartment is located in an eclectic building of 1920 called El Puerto Chico (the small port) which refers to the original street name of the actual re named Calle treinta y tres, which ended in the small port/​harbor of Montevideo. As it is situated at a peninsular you have at 3 sites the Rio de la Plata (Silver river)..The river that divides Argentina and Uruguay. As the main part of the building is on a pedestrian area you will have a nice view from the apartment during the day to all the local people who work and shop at Sarandi as well on the exotic palms which are part of the street scene. 2 blocks away you find the boulevard which is miles long,Plaza Matriz with it's museums and antique market...further on Plaza Independencia (Independent Square) and Avenida 18 de Julio......At the other side of Sarandi you can turn right into Perez Castellano and you will find the old market hall (Mercado del Puerto) with all its BBQ restaurants and where locals will come to have a drink on Fridays and Saturdays. The old city has kept it's flavour of the old grandeur of the past with it's beautiful buildings and all the daily activities which are typical of old quarters. Come and see it yourself ! It is easy to get to Montevideo from Buenos Aires Buquebus/​Colonia express or Sea cat are ferry lines who operate frequently or take a plane. The owners renovated and are still improving this nice apartment in a 1920's building....The building is similar to French buildings from the 1920's with a marble staircase and lot's of details. Inside the apartment has been completely renovated , electricity, water pipes are all newly done as tiling/​ the wooden doors and decoration are done with materials from the same era. The bathroom consist of a shower, wash basin and toilet. At the end of the entrance hall you find a kitchenette.. two ceramic stoves, fridge, micro wave, sink, lot's of pots and pans and cutlery. The bedroom has two separate beds (plus night tables) which can be put together it has large doors/​window towards the street. The living room has a sofa bed for 1 person. Two comfortable chairs. A table with three stools, music component, television, Internet, same huge doors/​windows as in the bedroom and another 3 windows formed a rounding with views on the pedestrian area.

The building it self contains a beautiful fenced elevator from it's twenties,marble staircases with mosaics and is one of the best places to stay when exploring Montevideo Restaurants,Teatro Solis,shops,bars and the sea within walking distance.At plaza Matriz a great antique market is held during Fridays and Saturdays.In summertime Lot's of activities(Dec-Feb). Just be there and indulge the typical Uruguayan laid back atmosphere with the beautiful architecture around you. For example visit Museum Gurvich at Plaza Matriz,The Cathedral at Plaza Matriz and the governor's house were the Constitution was sealed...than take a lunch outside in one of the restaurants.On sunny days you feel at ease enjoying the sun while having a nice meal between the trees with in front of you the beautiful marble fountain of Plaza Matriz this all one block away from the apartment .
